Tom, a graduate of UCD and Reading University, began his career as a Tropical Agriculturalist in Kenya. He has extensive experience in Tanzania, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Uganda, USA, Mexico, Ecuador, Serbia, and Kosovo. His speciality was dryland agriculture with soil & water conservation.
Throughout many years as an NGO employee, a sustainable development researcher in American Universities, and an international development consultant, he became interested in the people working within organisations, their languages, and workplace cultures.
Tom speaks several languages including Spanish and Ki-Swahili. To develop these interests further, Tom studied organisational psychology at the University of Limerick. He is a Chartered Organisational Psychologist with Psychological Society of Ireland, full member of the Division of the Work and Organisational Psychology, board member of the Coaching Psychology Special Interest Group. and Hon. Treasurer on the Climate Change special interest group. He is certified in Psychological First Aid, Mediation, Conflict Resolution, Train the Trainer and Psychometric Testing (Levels A & B by the British Psychological Society).
Tom trades as Mandeleo and is the Founder and Secretary of Psychology at Work CLG.
